Amidst children's unrestrained laughter and enthusiasm, Santa spent the afternoon at the Nutcracker Faire, listening to Christmas wishes of kids and parents alike.
Other children were shy and afraid, crying and unsure, and no amount of soothing words could convince them to approach Santa never mind sit on his lap.
It was a joy to watch Santa interact with the children and to listen to their sweet conversations, as they shared what they hoped to find under their trees on Christmas morning. Interacting with Santa, the kids and their parents all afternoon as I photographed them, I was moved by the innocence and belief in the magic of what Santa represents; that is to say, our hopes and dreams.
