Sandhill Cranes

The Sandhill Cranes fly over our house and land in the back field.  Daily, we are blessed to hear their calls and see their bright red heads peek through the tall grasses.  Their arrival signals spring and their departure, autumn.

Back in Alaska

Returning home to Alaska after living in New York City for nine months, I was nervous about how I'd feel and how I'd adjust.

I loved my New York City experience.  The adventures that I had and the people that I met will stay with me for the rest of my life.  I could not have imagined a more amazing time.  Who knew that I would love living in such a large city?

There is so much natural beauty and tranquility back in my northern neck of the woods.  It took about two weeks for me to emotionally and mentally transition back in to small town Alaska life.  Now, I'm spending time with my boyfriend, with friends, and enjoying being surrounded by the pristine mountains and bay.

I'm home!

Katie the Kittiwake
