We Love Nome - The Gold Camp Road

One of our favorite things about spending time in Nome is exploring the many drives out the various roads that take us away from town and into the vast landscape for hiking and photography. It's possible to drive north, east and west, anywhere from 5 miles to 80 miles from downtown Nome, park your vehicle on the side of the road and take off into the mountains. In the winter, most of these roads are accessible only by snowmachine or four-wheeler, so we are taking full advantage of the open roads during!

Today, we explored the Gold Camp Road that winds north for 75 miles, though the last three quarters of the road, we discovered, are more suited for four-wheelers than four-wheel drive vehicles.

We continue to be in absolute awe of the fall colors here right now...
