Waylaid in the Far North, we make the most of our delay in Fairbanks and spend time exploring the Chena River Recreation Area, Pioneer Park and downtown. Temps soar to low 80's mid-day, so we try to head out early mornings and late afternoons so I don't burn and swoon, and then we work on miscellaneous projects when it's the hottest.
Ravens are everywhere within the city limits, and a constant sound from our room is the chattering of these large birds that sit atop buildings, vehicles, dumpsters and fence posts. We're also enjoying the short walk to the movie theater, where we've taken in several movies, one of our favorite things to do on a roadtrip.
