This historic airfield boasts a museum, wooded trails, a community garden, tour of the old hangars, a sports arena, campgrounds and for the next two weeks, a carnival.
Today, I enjoy a visit to the museum, walk the grassy trails that are nestled in the woods alongside the airstrip, and explore the shoreline of the Inlet that is dotted with local fishermen. My favorite part of this day is encountering a turtle on the trail, he on his journey, me on mine.
Walking the quiet wooded areas, this is my fourth time being alone in New York City.
