New York Cares volunteers making our way to the Rockaways to hand out food, clothes and books a community center. The four of us represent England, Scotland, Venezuela and the good ol' USA.
The food delivery doesn't arrive while we're at the center, so instead we pass out books and baby clothes to mother's who stop by. Far Rockaway was hard hit by Sandy and is still very much in the process of recovering.
Volunteering with New York Cares is always a great experience. The other volunteers are warm and open and easy to get to know and work alongside and the projects are well organized. Some people donate money, others donate products or service, and others donate time. For me, sharing my time and caring feels the most meaningful...
