Fun at the Faire

Santa Hears Christmas Wishes

Amidst children's unrestrained laughter and enthusiasm, Santa spent the afternoon at the Nutcracker Faire, listening to Christmas wishes of kids and parents alike.

Other children were shy and afraid, crying and unsure, and no amount of soothing words could convince them to approach Santa never mind sit on his lap.

It was a joy to watch Santa interact with the children and to listen to their sweet conversations, as they shared what they hoped to find under their trees on Christmas morning.  Interacting with Santa, the kids and their parents all afternoon as I photographed them, I was moved by the innocence and belief in the magic of what Santa represents; that is to say, our hopes and dreams.

19 Days to Christmas - Holiday Faires

Our small community puts on a huge Faire, hosted by the Homer Council on the Arts, complete with arts and crafts from local and state-wide artisans.  There's also two weekends of performances by local dancers performing in the Nutcracker Ballet.

This weekend is the kickoff of the holiday shopping season for many, including me, and is a great opportunity for socializing, supporting the local art community and more.  I'll be at the Faire all weekend dressed as an elf, photographing Santa Claus with kids and families.

23 Days to Christmas - Trimming the Tree

24 Days to Christmas - Christmas Cards

We received our first Christmas card of the season in the mail today.

  Thanks Uncle Donny!

In this age of technology, handwritten cards and letters are an absolute delight.  I love to get them and I love to give them too!  They're one of my favorite things about the entire Christmas season...

25 Days of Christmas - Day 25 - Santa

The countdown begins...

Gails says this is my first menopausal Santa pic - is it hot in here or is it just this elf hat?
